Bad News and Such

Matt, I can't host the server out of my house, which means one of two things. 1) We run it at your house where it stays on for 3-4 hours a day, if we're lucky. 2) We pay some Micro$oft diPTard 150 greens a year to give us a paltry amount of space on his 90mhz server. Some people call this a "catch-22", I like to call it a "We're totally #$@%@!ed."

  • Why can't you you house the server out of your house? Family matters and such? I mean... if you can't, you can't.

  • Parents don't want network open at all times to hackers.

  • Did you tell/show them my diagram of the theoritical network? Only my server [our web server], would be directly connected to the net, and the sub-network (under the second router) supports your family's comps. Hopefully they realize what you told them.

  • As in you can:

    1. The server can stay online at all times.
    2. You agree that you won't screw with the computer and it's configuration of the files.
    3. Your parents will allow myself to re-wire your entire network to accomodate the server and your family's own "firewalled" computer network.

Notes: The way you connect to the internet will stay exactly the same. The network behind your modem (which, if your parents permit, I will configure myself) will look and operate exactly as depicted in my diagram of the network (which is still on the front page, just scroll down). I also will need to speak to your parents personally about what's going on.

Your folks could be up mine if I go ahead and screw with your cable access to the world.

  • SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! I'm going to CompUSA on Sunday to look at computers. Hoping to get something with a Pentium, or an Athlon-64. No Dell's, and preferably a good graphics card. I'll probably pick up Battlefield 2 while I'm at it. You may commence worshipping me...NOW.
