iPod nano - 200GB mod success

You might be thinking, WTF Mate???

Well, you're wrong and I'm right.

I had an extra 200GB hard drive lying around, so I decided to mod this kid's iPod nano to make it hold A LOT more songs than originally planned for by Apple.

If you fill this bad-boy with illegal warez, and get caught, that'll be $75,000 out of your allowance. Holds up to 500,000 songs.

And a picture of the sleek iPod:

By the way, battery life was reduced greatly, averaging at about 6 minutes on a full charge, compared to the 8+ hours guaranteed by Apple.

Fellow joggers might laugh at your g3ekt4rdn3sS, but don't let that bother you.

UPDATE:

For those of you who think the image above was edited in Photoshop, here's another picture from the side:

I actually almost wrecked the kid's iPod with configuration errors, so I changed the drive format and it worked fine. Sold the mod to him for $180.

  • Guys, I posted twice within an hour, so there's another post beneath this one too.

  • HAHAHAHA!!! Pete, you've had administrator rights forever and you've not even noticed yet!!

Unbelievable. I just checked the 'members' settings for this blog, and I noticed Pete had Admin rights all along since day 1, and I forgot to change it then because of some testing we were doing.

    Wahtever.

  • You sure you didn't Photoshop that? I notice "The Journey by Fatboy Slim" is the image that apple puts on all it's Ipod screens in print advertising.

  • Also, your HD's shadow only goes in one direction, while the Ipod's goes in several. That does look like your hand, though....

By Blogger Marquis de Suave, at 9:38 PM

  • Nope, no Photoshop. Although I wish I could photoshop pictures that good...

By Blogger Matt, at 3:50 PM

  • I can't believe he paid 180$ for an Ipod with a 6 minute battery life. I was walking around school today, and whenever I saw someone with an Ipod I'd tell them how inferior their's was to ours.

By Blogger Marquis de Suave, at 5:01 PM

  • Did you show people the pictures?

Yeah the kid had to pay for the drive, obviously, which costs like $140.

I also gave him the [Wahttehhog Approved] certificate, which cost like another $20 to print, cut, and polish.

There's this other kid who wants video on his iPod nano, which is a severe modification, and I don't know if I could do it. But I could charge him like $250 though.

It's kinda scary how much money these kids bring to school, but whatever, at the day's end, it all still ends up in my pocket anyways.

By Blogger Matt, at 5:43 PM

  • Well, don't get caught. Do your parents know you do this?

By Blogger Marquis de Suave, at 8:02 PM

  • Yeah they know. They don't care.

Nothing I'm doing here is illegal. All it is is modifying iPods for optimal performance.

The way I see it, whenever some kid has me rip open his/her iPod, they're getting the [Wahttehhog Approved] certificate, which they can go wave in friends' faces. (And then, obviously, we'll be in business modding people's stuff and stuff. They pay to advertise the Wahttehhog Clan.) I mean, everyone would then want a Wahttehhog certificate, 'cause they pwn, and we'll soon be raking in the big bucks.

Basicly, they're buying the brand name, being The Wahttehhog 1337xX0rn3sS. Kinda like how LaCie Inc. uses Toshiba drives in their externals, we use Apple iPods in our, um, enhancement mods.

  • The Wahttehhog n00b-Tester for Mac OS X is about to be released. I'll port it to the PC architecture sometime.

By Blogger Matt, at 8:46 PM

  • Can we put a picture of me givin the thumbs up on the certificates? Like we planned to way back in May.

By Blogger Marquis de Suave, at 9:57 PM

  • We have to design an official "Wahttehhog Approved" certificate for all those n00bz that would feel better if they held this piece of paper that said they were #1.

  • That's funny, I typed the above comment at Jon's LAN and it appeared on the blog under his display name!!11

By Blogger Matt, at 11:28 AM

  • By the way Jon, that LAN was insane!!11 We wupped teh Middle-Schoolers a55es. Really awesome teamwork by all of us. Remember that time we had like 3 red guys trying to retrieve the flag, I flanked the guy on the hog, Pete grabbed the flag as someone else laid the smackdown with the AR on the guy who was about to assasinate Pete, and then I yanked out my Sniper R and made him eat my bullet in teh head.

    InSaNe FuN!!!!1112

Jon, you have to host another LAN over Thanksgiving or something. And if I know ahead of time, I'll prob. be able to stay overnight and such.

  • Are you sure you didn't steal this? I found the exact same photos on Wikipedia.

By Blogger Marquis de Suave, at 12:08 AM

  • That's me also. I posted the project on Uncyclopedia before I posted it here.

Just because I can get massive publicity with my mods doesn't mean ya'll can think I stole it.

By Blogger Matt, at 8:09 AM

  • Are there any pictures of you occupying the same physical space as the Ipod in question?

By Blogger Marquis de Suave, at 11:14 AM

  • Yeah I can take some sometime when my friend is over.
