  • Guys, we're having a bit of trouble with the eMac. The problem is that the OS refuses to load. It stays at the screen where it shows the little picture of the computer smiling. If anyone has experienced similar problems or knows of a way to fix it, let us know. Keep in the mind that it runs Mac OS 9.2.

  • The computer is mocking you!

By Blogger Pete, at 3:40 PM

  • It looks this was filmed at a school. It always bothered me. Why were you guys at a school filming this? And where is the school?

  • Think really long and hard. Where have you seen the setting before. Because you have seen it in person, on many occasions.

By Blogger Marquis de Suave, at 6:51 PM

  • Hey Austin, saying that "you've been there" would be an extreme understatement.

    .....

The reason why the eMac keeps getting hung up with the "Finder smile" is because upon bootup, the Mac running Classic 9.2.2 performs routine operations to "setup the system" for the users' computing session. This includes setting time, services, and "Finder" initiation. I think the computer freezes when it tries to locate an active LAN and possible internet connection. Also, if the computer hasn't been turned on for a while (as in, years), then it also might have lost the date & time settings, which would have to be restored by pinging an external server for the proper time. There are some other things that the eMac could be choking on, but first try plugging the Mac into your LAN with net access and see if it boots.

  • It's in the High School, Austin. Playing that video back and forth in slow motion is hilarious!

  • I couldn't recognize the area with all the stuff around, and, plus, I don't go down there very often. I'm ready for this weekend, let's do some more work. Chances are, I'm HOPEFULLY free this weekend. If we plan ahead, my chances of going would increase.

  • Way to go dumbass. I was going to see how long it took before he figured it out. We also have some footage of a kid doing the dipstick mosh to a school choir. Yep, it was one glorious night for film.

  • Matt I had used the eMac on Sunday night and it worked perfectly, so it shouldn't be because it wasn't used in years.

I love Focus, Matt. I think it's a pure work of genius.

  • It looks like we have practice on Saturday, but I'll find out for sure. Could we do something on Friday? That would be good. I could go like after five. I feel bad if I don't do anything.

By Blogger -|WTH|-AA7, at 5:16 PM

  • "I could go like after five." Like?

By Blogger Pete, at 5:30 PM

  • We should have an outtakes section. This includes stuff such as the SpaZtard pictures, Starlog, and Retard Ryan. I'm thinking we should set a camera in the back of the room we film in so that we get all of the action. But, wahtever, we could wait until we get the site running, moby-bir...

By Blogger -|WTH|-AA7, at 6:14 PM

  • Clay, you did like my "Focus" song clip?

If you liked that, then you'd probably like 2 other short pieces I created. Some serious note-modification and modulations were used in some of the other clips.

    .....

Austin, Ryan and I have already planned to put up a new section on the sidebar titled "Wahttehhog Failures" or something like that.

    .....

And I don't think it would be a good idea just to have a camera recording continuously at the back of a room because:

    1. It's a waste of possibly several tapes/hard drive space.
    2. I doubt the camera angle would be even worthy of use in an edited piece.

What really should happen is someone should just record stuff where and when it occurs. Like with Evan and his camera.

  • Anyone notice anything different about the blog lately?

By Blogger Matt, at 8:23 PM

  • Ugh..... Audacity is confusing me very much. If anyone can direct me to help or give me help, please do so(sorry if I seem to be asking for too much).

Yes Matt, I have noticed the new stuff around the blog. It looks pretty sweet.

  • I visited the HBO site recently and checked out there rankings for all videos submitted since last year of something like that. It turns out that 75.4% of all the people who have viewed our "Insert Quarter to Purchase Health" video liked it.

    Check it out here.

That's good news, considering that that first video was just that^^. A first video. That video was all just sweet improvision on-site. Plus, the quality sucked, since it was filmed on a VCR, and then converted to DV, and then log-and-captured into FCP, and then edited.

This next video is gonna' royally pwn all of everything forever and stuff.

  • Hey guys, Austin and I got the eMac to work. Apparently, the professor who used it before us had the Mac OS X software but never installed it.

By Blogger -=WTH=-Mod Clay, at 7:24 PM

  • Yeah, not having an installed OS on a computer would do it.

By Blogger Matt, at 8:00 PM

  • It had Mac OS 9.2 before, but we found an installer disc for Mac OS X.

  • Jon, you seem lost, we're over here.

By Blogger Pete, at 3:28 PM

  • Our grant proposal letter apparently got through, because I just received a return letter in the mail stating that they would grant us only $40 for the VMC-30FS Multi-Connect Audio-Video Cable for the Sony camcorder. We didn't get grants for the modchip or the transcoder (as expected) because they "were concerned that [our] program may infringe upon the copyright or the original game." Bullshit.

Anyways, I'm gonna' give 'em a piece of my mind and send them another letter stating that the Bungie company really encourages fans to produce machinima using their games, and that they actually support the movie-making scene by leaving in certain game effects that prove to be helpful in filming a video (for example, the relaxed-weapon stance [Down on the D-pad]).

Hopefully the BATV Producer Grant Committee will realize this and reconsider our requests for the other items.

By Blogger Matt, at 5:02 PM

  • Have you guys heard the rumor that Halo 3 won't exist? Instead, Bungie will name the game, "Forerunner."

By Blogger Pete, at 5:21 PM

  • Yeah I read that.

By Blogger Matt, at 5:27 PM

  • I just thought of a really funny idea for a video! I'll tell you about it in somewhere more secure.

By Blogger Pete, at 10:37 PM

  • I'm guessing that Matts the one who changed the title bar or top bar or whatever you wanna call it.

By Blogger [wthg}jondrunken master, at 9:17 AM

  • I have just given Apple $250. Yes, I bought an iPod nano 4GB(not a bad investment). But, even though most of us whattehhog folks are loathing the existence of iPods, it's oretty darn 1337xxorz.

By Blogger -=WTH=-Mod Clay, at 11:12 PM

  • Down with the iPod!

By Blogger Pete, at 9:48 AM

  • Since when did we loathe the iPod?

By Blogger Matt, at 2:57 PM

  • I just want Apple to stop naming their products beginning with i.

By Blogger Pete, at 3:10 PM

  • Well, there's the eMac.

What they really need to stop doing is naming their products with a lower-case letter to start with.
